FIONAVAR NEWS (Brags from Australia and around the world from Fionavar bred dogs, and/or pups sired by our our lovely boys) FOR 2007 NEWS CLICK HERE
Updated 15.12.06 Hi everyone well lots been happening hear lately. Been holding off updating happenings as we were waiting for Satellite Installation which has now happened. PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW EMAIL ADDRESS OF fionavar@optusnet.com.au Also had a 30Tonne excavator increasing our smaller dam - it is empty so now we pray for rain but when it fills again one day the dogs will have their own little lake. In Perth Alex has been flying!! knocking up quite a few qualifiers and placings in Masters and Open Agility and Jumpers. Cath said she has never seen him run so fast, but having that little brother Snazzie in the scene now has truly inspired him to great things -LOL Jaffa in Perth has taken her first Excellent Jumpers qualifier and 1st place no less. She too cracked the set course time. Jaffa also cleaned up in her Club end of year presentations coming home with many trophies! Lukas and Moet's daughter Jinty here in Brisbane took a qualifier in Agility and 3rd place a couple of weekends ago. That was her break up trial and what a lovely way to finish the year. Good luck next year Jinty (aka The Princess) and Mick. We have had little Jet in Sydney quite sick. Jet fell or twisted wrong and prolapsed T12-T13 Discs in her back. This is a major injury and off to the specialists where an emergency operation lasting many hours to repair the damage to the spine. We can happily say she is now back home and recuperating- the signs look good and she is walking tho it is a long road yet to recover. Ellie her young mistress went to the Australian State Athletic finals and with Jet as her inspiration won the 100m and 200M sprints in PB times and also took silver and gold in the relays. Thanks to Graf family for providing Jet with the best care possible. We look forward to Jet being back to 100% feral in 2007. Duke here has finished for the year but not before he racked up another couple of Australian Bred in Group Wins, a Group win in an Open show and in a CH show Best Australian Bred in Show. (his first In Show win) Unfortunately while galavanting in the paddock and dam he pulled a shoulder muscle and tendon. He too is back on recovery and doing well. Duke's daughter Jenna, in Perth took her first Bitch Challenge the other day- Duke thought that was pretty cool. Same day Chevy Lukas's son took another BOB! Scoota, Lukas's lovely son in Perth also has been firing towards the end of the year with many placings and qualifiers in Agility and Jumpers. What a year that young man has had!! We also had the sad news that a Lukas Moet son- Mack who lived with Ken Dagley not far from us tragically lost his battle to a tick a few weeks ago. We are all devastated. Mack was the most laid back and good natured of boys, a constant companion of Ken's. We shall all miss him dearly. God Bless Mack, but know you are playing at the Bridge with Jordi and your half sister Mazda. Yes I have some great pictures to put up sent to us as well but I shall leave that to over the weekend and test out this new broadband!! Updated 14.11.06 Wow big weekend for Red Dogs everywhere. Hobo does the most important job of visiting Dementia patients in their Nursing Homes and also visiting Schools with the local vet who uses Hobo for his talk on dogs and education. Hobo is so darn sweet and unflappable, I could have hugged him forever. It brought a tear to my eye all the wonderful good he does with the elderly and the young, comfort for one group and very important animal education for the other. Your a true star Hobo.

Terry and I imported Fanta and her brother Tardes last year. Arthur and Anne have started their own kennels and will likely have their first litter next year. They did the most incredible job with Fanta after she went to live with them, we felt Fanta was best off with them all the time and that she should be all theirs. Fanta celebrated in the finest way the very next day by Winning Junior in Group at the Gold Coast. I think that was her way of showing them how happy she was to be all theirs. We adore Fanta and could easily have kept her here with us at Fionavar - we will always be her god parents and hence she will always have her little place here with us at Fionavar. Thanks Arthur and Anne for the wonderful home. See pics of Fanta below taken on the Anzac Day Long Weekend.

END OF YEAR WRAP UP 2005 The upload program is sorta working again for the moment so have, over xmas, done a few updates to pages and will attempt to give a bit of a summary for the last half of the year. To all our friends and puppy owners hope you had a wonderful xmas and wishing you all the best in the new year. Many thanks also for all the updates and photo's - we won't push the program too hard at the moment with all the photo's but will endeavour to get some up bit by bit. Just watch out for updates. Firstly you can view some pictures of our trip to San Fran and Oregon for the 2005 USA Specialty. Click Here. Also visited Perth for a few days and caught up with all our friends and dogs. Had a great time as well as meeting Duke and Blaize's gorgeous 8 week olds. Click Here for pics. Most of the other pages (Our Dogs) have been updated as well to include brags titles etc. Maverick in the USA had a Boomer of a year becoming only the 2nd Toller in USA to gain an All Breeds Best in Show. He had multiple Group placings and wound out the year as No 2 Toller USA All Breeds and No 7 Toller Breed points in USA. He was judges First Award of Merit at the USA Specialty. Click Here for Mavs Page Rio his sister has nearly gained her USA CH just a few points to go. She placed 3rd in a very tough Open Bitch Class at USA Speciality. Little Sister Fury has her first points towards her USA CH, gained her Canadian WC Title and JH Title under our friend and Trainer Donna Lahaise. Fury also came 2nd in Puppy Sweeps at USA Specialty. On the home front, Fionavar Hielan Laddie - Dougal and owner Audrey Boon in Perth became the first Toller team to gain a Tracking Title. Did it in 3 straight tracks. Well done. See Perth Pics above for Dougal. Alex finished the year as Fionavar Nor Wester CDX ADX JDX, with a win and 1st qualifier for his UD title, they also have legs now towards their Masters Agility and Jumpers. When Cath and Alex fire up they sure blow everyone away. You can see Alex on Perth Pics and his Page Lukas's kids in Perth have been going great guns. Joker owned by Sue Hogben finished the year with his RRD Retrieving Title, his CDX, ADX and JDX - he has only one more qualifier to go for his UD. Scoota owned by Sandi Gee also had a great year, getting his CDX, AD and JD. Dekka his brother gained his CD. See the Perth Gang Zoe with Fionavar Dance Yer Lane came for a visit from Perth. We did some shows and young Jaffa took home with her 14 pts towards her CH. Such a pretty young girl. See Jaffa Lukas and Moet's girls Jinty owned by Mick Warren, and Ghillie owned by Deb Owen debuted on their 18 month old birthday in AADA Agility Comp. Both girls passed Starters Agility which is equivalent to ANKC Novice Agility. Watch out for more of these little girls. They also have a wonderful hidden talent of being able to round up a herd of cows in 2 minutes flat LOL You had to be there to see that one!! Terry and I sure won't forget it.
Janet Jordan and Hobo in Adelaide have been visiting as qualified therapy dog the Dementia units. The joy this pair are bringing to the folks in this home are immeasurable. Really brings a tear to the eye when Janet describes them waiting at the door for Hobo to arrive. On our own doorstep we welcomed home Redman. CH Fionavar Moondog Matinee. Redman came back to live with us in late August. Thanks for Frank and family for taking such good care of him. Redman recently became Daddy to 6 lovely pups at Lidlriva Kennels (Emma Simon) and might well have some more kids on the way after having visits with CH Dragonluck's Irrisistable Rusti AD JD. See Redman Duke had a great year. 1 Group Win, 4 Reserves in Group, multiple Intermediate in Groups and finished the year as NO 1 Toller in Australia (Dogzonline Comp). He also became a Daddy for the very time. 10 kids to Splash at Sara's Kirchoff Kennels and 4 little look a likes to Sandi Gee's Blaize in Perth. Dukes Page Updated 24.6.05 Ok so it has been ages since updates! Sorry folks but my Front Page upload simply hasn't been working- now rectified. Please be patient firstly just the verbal stuff then I will slowly work on getting all the pictures up that I have received from all over the country. Perth have been doing real well over last couple of months. Lukas's two sons have been doing awesome! Joker owned by Sue Hogben from the Lukas Goldie Litter has gained his CD and CDX now! His CDX's with first place 195, first 197 and second 195. He has also gained his ADX!! and has two leg to Open Jumpers. To show how versatile he is he also won Restricted Retrieving trial giving his his first leg towards his RRD. Congratulations Sue and Joker. Scoota, a Lukas Blaize son owned by Sandi Gee in Perth has also gained his CD and 2 legs towards CDX and first leg in Novice Jumpers with a first place! Very talented upbeat young man this and keep an eye on Sandi and Scoota in the future Cath and Alex in PERTH are also BACK!! Doing great work and Alex gaining his CDX and JDX. When Alex is on he sure is on and never out of the placings! Jan Voss with Buzz from our very first litter just gained Buzz's CDX as well!! Got it final leg a couple of weekends ago with a nice score of 183. Now he is training for that UD. Down in Adelaide we have heard that Hobo, also from our first litter with owner Janet Jordan is taking Hobo thru his Caring Canine Companion course. Hobo will be doing very special visits to those who need him. Hats off to Janet and Hobo who will give some special care to some special people in the future. Maverick over in California, well what can we say after taking a break he has hit the US showrings in big style. Group 1, Group 2, 3 and 4 with multiple BOB wins he is currently No 11 Breed Toller in the USA with almost no competition, and No 3 All Breeds in USA! He has had very limited showing so really goes to show what an outstanding young man he is. Maverick's little sister Rio is back with Linda for the summer and today on her very show took a 3 pt Major in Conejo for Winners Bitch and BOS - against who. well Brother Maverick of course!! Go little Rio. She is the spitting image of her little mother by the way, just more coat and if anything even prettier. Aussie in Sweden our other gorgeous boy from that Rush Blue breeding is getting ready yet again for the Swedish Specialty. However in his very own Regional Swedish Specialty and still only in the Youth Class became Best Youth Dog overall and 2nd Best Male in the entire Specialty!! Fingers crossed for the 2005 Specialty where Aussie will compete for Junior Toller Master and in the seperate Breed Competition. He is a stunning young man and has also just become a father to 5 lovely pups. Fury the baby sister to all the above is currently with our great and dear friend Donna Lahaise in Ontario where she is spending loads of time with Val and Mike at Ambertrails Kennels. Donna is working with Fury's awesome retrieving and water ability and getting her ready for upcoming WC Tests. Fury might well be in the upcoming Halifax NSDTR Club Specialty in conformation and if ready, the working test. Red, brother of Fury in his first show with owner Sara Coombes took a lovely Baby Puppy in Group Coffs Harbour!!! Following in his famous fathers footsteps for sure. We are looking forward to seeing Red and Blue up here for our own Brisbane Royal. Fyre in Sydney has also been on the baby circuit and has been taking a few baby of breeds. She is now out of Baby and now will be chasing her very first points. Pics are coming soon. Here with us and Duke had a bit of a dry spell but powered back yesterday with another Res in Group and Intermediate in Group at Samford. That makes 3 Res in Groups for the year and 4 overall, not counting his BOB wins and multiple age group placements. We too are looking forward to the Brisbane Royal and going under NSDTR Canada Speciality Judge Mr Kearney. Best of luck to everyone entered. Not sure yet but Duke might well become a Daddy in next few weeks ! Joining his brothers Maverick and Aussie in lighting some cigars. Duke has also passed his final health clearances, with Hips, Elbows and Eyes now all been Certified and fine. Ok there are still loads of pics to come which will have to wait a tad longer while I work on all the pages. Both Alex and Scoota are competing this weekend in Perth's HUGE WESTERN CLASSIC. Joker another Lukas son owned by Sue Hogben is also debuting in his obedience. Canberra Royal was on last weekend and Buzz owned by Jan Voss gained another Leg towards his Open Obedience title, and a 3rd place I believe. Well done Jan and Buzz. Buzz and Jan also gained an Open Leg a few weeks ago in Bermague with a 2nd placing. Only one to go. Brianna, Jan's lovely daughter has taken Pippa into a breed class and Junior Handlers, she gained Pippa's very first Championship points. Still in Canberra for the Royal conformation and Blue father of Kazan, Duke and our litter of pups here at the moment took a huge BOB with 22 pts towards his Gr Championship, Runner up was our Moet's mother Goldie and Goldie son sired by our own Lukas took Runnerup Challenge Dog. Puppy went to a lovely boy called Ollie owned by Sandra Goldsmith and Jo Scrimageour sired by Rush's brother Fynn and mother Molly. Maverick has hit the show rings again in Southern California with 2 x BOB's and a GROUP 3. The judge told Meredith he would have given him Group One but moved slightly in the final line-up. Gee how close was that and goes to show the quality of the Groups over there whereby a judge is looking for anything to seperate them. Maverick still left many BIS winners in his wake! Duke headed out here last weekend as well and with 3 shows took 3 BOB's and also on his last day as Junior took ANOTHER JUNIOR IN GROUP. He also made the final cut of 4 dogs in the Group competition that day as well, judges comments were I could have given him the group but he is still immature and a long way to go against the Open dogs yet, but "I just Love Him". Mighty nice words and nice compliment for our lovely boy. Below are pics of Callum - Moet Lukas son from Litter 5 sent to us by Grant and Kelli. He recently visited Grant's parents farm and had a great time meeting all the animals! Doesn't he so look like a boy version of Moet! Handsome young man. And our roving Sydney Report Jet (above) would love to tell everyone her Mistress Ellie, won the Under 14 Beach Sprint at the Nipper Titles in Sydney last weekend, Ellie also came 4th in the Beach Flag event. Aussie and Tess in Sweden have gained another Conformation Certificate, that makes two and only one to go now for his Swedish Conformation Title, however his last Certificate must be gained over 2 years old and from Open Class. However it is very rare for Judges to award these Certificates to young dogs in Sweden, so he has done VERY WELL. He also took overall runnerup from all the Tollers- not bad for a young fellow! Lukas's son the handsome Joker owned by Sue Hogben in Perth has gained is first Novice Agility title too, another very talented boy with many more brags to go yet! Watch this space with Joker! Hopefully today if I can keep the PC running long enough. However have some great brags as well from here and overseas. Alex and Cathy took another Open Jumpers Qualifier the other weekend which only leaves them one to go for their JDX. Had a very big surprise from Canberra where Jan and Buzz (ex NZ) are now living. Buzz debuted in his first CD trial over here and got his first qualifier and first place with a score of 185/200 in very hot conditions. Wow hey what a start for his Aussie titles!!! Go Buzz and Jan. Maverick has gone back home to the USA after spending the summer training with Aunty Donna. Well nearly back home, at the moment he is at the USA National Specialty in Alabama. We had some super news yesterday that Maverick qualified in both his Novice and at his very first attempt a qualifier for his Open and US CDX title. Rest of team Javahill are also at specialty so we are hoping they all do very well. Conformation is on today and tomorrow the Working Tests! Duke competed last weekend in our Specialty Gun Dog Show under International Judge Dr Mendola of the Phillipines. Duke took BOB then under one of the biggest Gun Dog Groups of the year made the Final Cut!! 14 months old and in with the big winning Gun Dogs. We didn't make the group but sure was nice to be recognised and pulled for the final look at. Updated 30.9.04 Duke has had another great day of showing. No BOB's though as his awesome half brother Teddy and Lorraine came out to play. Two Champ Shows and Teddy was really awesome- great to see him and Lorraine out again! However...... Duke did take yet another JUNIOR IN GROUP!! Thanks Judge Bev Clare who thought 13 Month old Duke was the Ants Pants and put him up over a very nice *long* line up of Junior Gun Dogs. Cath and Alex have finished competing the Teams Event Perth Royal Show for Agility. "The Aussie Duckers" made the Grand Final and finished just out a place with a couple of faults. Firstly Maverick passing his WC test and with it become what we believe is the youngest recipient for the Doberstein Award. Congrats to Linda and Meredith and of course to Mav's awesome trainer and handler Donna Lahaise! 1 week later and Mav and Donna shot over the border for 4 days of Obedience in the USA. Mav and Donna only needed 3 days to obtain 3 straight qualifiers and their USA CD Title. Congrats US CH Fionavar Javahill Topgun CD Can CD WC. Cath and Alex snuck out on us and did and absolute Blinder of an Open Jumpers, came first and blew the competition away. People are still emailing us saying it was one of the best runs they had ever seen. Your stars Cath and Alex. So then THEY WENT AND DID IT AGAIN TOO. Donna and Maverick snuck out and got their 3rd and final leg for their Canadian CD Title, 192 points and 2nd place. And they still managed to get their Field Training in. Terry and I think Cath and Donna would get on famously with them both sneaking off on us LOL Happy birthday to all the puppies spread all over the world from our 4th Litter. Rush and Blue, who turn big 1 year old tomorrow. You have all done us very proud, from being the most wonderful of pets, to being super team mascots and leading their teams to victories in their finals. To showing to working. Rush and Blue send their love and so do Terry and I. Happy Birthday to Maverick in Canada with Aunty Donna, to Rio in California with the Martins, Aussie in Sweden with Louise and Therese Blomqvist, to Charlie in Adelaide, Jet in Sydney our black eyed little monkey, our sweet boy in New Zealand Merlin, Cruise on the our stunning Gold Coast, Dexter right here in Brisbane and of course our own lovely boy Duke. Updated 29.8.04 THEIR BACK !!!! Two of our wonderful boys are back in action with some brilliant results. Last weekend Cath and Alex gave Terry and I an early birthday present. In a big weekend of Agility, Alex and Cath rolled off 2 x Open Agility qualifiers with a 2nd and 3rd placing and another qualifier and 3rd placing in Open Jumpers. They smashed course times and were only beaten by Masters Dogs!! Trying to do a count here, but I think that gives him 2 Open Jumpers and 2 Open Agility passes to date. So today when we thought it couldn't get any better we had Maverick making his Obedience debut with Aunty Donna handling. Mav has been spending his summer training with Donna for his Working and Obedience. We we can say he is now a Two Legged Dog with 2 qualifiers in Novice Obedience today with 2 3rd placing Rosette's to go with it. His Working Test debut is coming up soon, hold on to your hats. Thanks for the birthday present Mav and Donna and congrats to owner Linda Fitzmaurice who is away at the big Gold Rush event in California with Mav's Uncle Gambler. Gambler took BOB in a very big field of Tollers. So there you go our boys are showing they just aren't pretty faces. Isla has left us, boy we are going to miss her but she has gone to live in the beautiful Blue Mountains with Chris and Kerry Williams. Isla can look forward to trialling in obedience and doing some shows. Isla remains in Co-Ownership with ourselves and the Williams. Updated 13.8.04 Well Duke or Nugget didn't get anything in the Royal Finals, but held their heads very high for the breed. Kim, Crystal and I were very proud of our two wonderful boys. New pics again in Litter 5, Callum and Ewan have gone to their wonderful new homes. Also pics of Jaffa in W.A click HERE. Alex and Cath snuck off and did a Novice obedience trial, came 2nd place! They have been training very hard of late getting ready for some Open competition. They have some agility trials coming up so watch this space!!! Good luck guys! Updated 12.8.04 Pics of pups, Georgia in Townsville and Jinty, Isla and Callum- Click HERE on Litter 5 Update. Updated 8.8.04 Well been very busy with 5 of the pups heading off for their homes, visitors and the Brisbane Royal. Aussie in Sweden competed in his very first Swedish Speciality last weekend, also debuting in hunting test. Out of 17 dogs and much older Dogs Aussie finished 4 in the Junior TollerMaster competition in the Speciality. To qualify dogs must compete and finish the Junior Hunting Test, then compete in their own Conformation Class. Only 5 dogs finished the hunting test with Aussie coming 5th. Then he won the conformation event, giving him at his very first try a 4th placing!!!! In the official conformation event for the speciality Aussie had 27 !! yes 27 dogs in his class he took 2nd placing!! We are so thrilled and proud of him doing so well in this the biggest Toller Speciality, in numbers, in the world! Congratualations to Louise, Therese and of course Aussie. Duke and I went to a show last weekend to get him a bit of practice for our Brisbane Royal. Duke took BOB and then won Puppy in Group! This was his 4th Class in Group in his last 5 outings. New picture of Duke 11 months old on his page. Then yesterday at the Brisbane Royal at 11 months old Duke won Best Puppy of Breed, then took Reserve Challenge dog against all the big dogs then to our surprise the Canadian Judge gave him RUBOB!!!
